The 2015 South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) kicked-off smoothly at Rhema Bible Church in Randburg on 30 June 2015, as learners ascended the stage to battle it out during this year’s championships. The primary schools participated in nine (9) different categories, including a new category for Boys Choirs. The level of the competition is very high and the next two days will prove to be very interesting.
Provincial supporters comprising of parents, teachers, members of School Governing Bodies and other government officials came in their numbers to support the learners participating in the competition, which is supported across the entire country. Music, song and dance is a way of life in South Africa and in Africa. Hosting a competition of this magnitude, the DBE intends to promote the spirit of Ubuntu among learners within the schooling system for them to grow up with discipline and respect for people from different languages and cultures. The competition will end on 02 July 2015 when all the winners will walk away with great prizes aimed at promoting and strengthening the musical talents of learners in public schools.
