Deputy Minister Enver Surty to launch the Sunrise View and Platinum Village Schools in Rustenburg, North West, 12 April 2018

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will officially launch The Sunrise View and Platinum Village Schools in Rustenburg on Friday, 13 April 2018. The schools are part of the Impala Platinum’s Social and Labour Plan projects built in partnership with the North West Department of Education and Sport Development and Impala Bafokeng Trust.

Sunrise View Primary and Secondary Schools were built at a cost of R 86 million and project serves the community of Boitekong Township. This year the school has 1 830 learners (905 primary, 925 secondary), 64 educators (31 primary, 33 secondary) and 61 support staff (15 primary, 46 secondary) are benefiting from these two schools.

The R 130 million Platinum Village Schools was successfully completed in 2016 and both the primary and secondary schools opened in 2017. This year the school has 683 pupils enrolled from Grade R to Grade 5 in the primary school and 366 in Grade 8 to 10 in the secondary school.

Also in attendance will be the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Mpho Khunou, MEC of NW Department of Education and Sport Development Sello Lehari, Chairperson of Impala Bafokeng Trust Her Majesty Queen Semane Molotlegi and Impala CEO Mark Munroe.
