The DBE and TBF acknowledge excellence in implementation of National School Nutrition Programme, 21 April 2017

The Department of Basic Education in partnership with the Tiger Brands Foundation (TBF) will on Monday, 24 April 2017 recognise the Best Schools and District that administer the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) in line with Education minimum guidelines.  The 2016/17 NSNP Best School and District Awards will be held at Steenberg’s Cove Primary School, in St Helena Bay.

 

Since its inception in 2010, the NSNP Best School Award has been recognising the contribution and role of the School Nutrition Programme in improving the quality of learning in schools by providing a daily nutritious meal to over 9,2 million learners. TBF has been providing a hot cooked nutritious breakfast in schools that serve the NSNP lunch and currently it is active in 92 schools providing breakfast for approximately 63500 learners every school day. Furthermore the Award showcases best practices in the implementation of the NSNP and also advocates for the programme.  

 

The winning school will be awarded with prizes from the Tiger Brands Foundation.  Prizes consist of support towards the building kitchen and inclusion in the TBF in-school breakfast programme, in addition to the NSNP main meal. The winning District will also receive prizes from the Tiger Brands Foundation towards the procurement office equipment.

 

The NSNP Awards will recognise excellence in the following categories:

National School Nutrition Programme Award Category Best School

National School Nutrition Programme Award Category Best District
