The Department of Basic Education, Cotlands And UNICEF host Play Conference supported by the Lego Foundation, 11 July 2016

The Department of Basic Education in partnership with Cotlands, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) supported by the LEGO Foundation will be hosting a three day PLAY conference from Tuesday, 12 to Thursday, 14 July 2016 at the Aviator Hotel, near the OR Tambo Airport in Kempton Park.  

The PLAY conference is aimed at addressing the need for play-based learning particularly in early childhood focusing on children from birth to nine years. The conferences will also focus on three main tracks: the importance of play for children; play-based learning in theory and practice, and the resources in developing a culture of play-based learning.

The department of Basic Education recently hosted an ECD roundtable in an effort to ensure that a solid foundation in education is given to young children.   

The members of the media are therefore invited to the event as follows:
