Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga has expressed shock and sadness at news that the Limpopo Education MEC Ms Thembi Nwedamutswu has died.

"I am deeply saddened by the passing away of a comrade and colleague in that province. We convey our condolences to her family, relatives and friends. She was a hardworking and committed leader and she will be sorely missed. Her career was cut short in the department, she was just 9 months in her position and she was showing great leadership and potential," said Minister Motshekga.

Before joining the provincial cabinet MEC Nwedamutswu was Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Development Trust. She was also the Treasurer of the African National Congress in Limpopo.
