Hand-over of Kensington High School continues ASIDI Western Cape roll-out, 10 September 2014

 

The President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Mr Jacob Zuma, will tomorrow, Thursday 11 September 2014 hand-over Kensington High School in Kensington, Cape Town (Western Cape Province) as part of the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI). The President will be accompanied by the Minister and Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga and Mr Enver Surty.

ASIDI was initiated in 2011 as a direct response to the replacement of all mud schools and inappropriate school structures in South Africa. To date ASIDI has delivered 78 schools in the Eastern Cape Province and has created close to 10 000 job opportunities in the process.

As a Presidential Infrastructure Co-ordinating Commission Initiative, ASIDI will see a total of 25 schools built over two phases in the Western Cape Province.
