The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will on Wednesday, 24 April 2019 launch the book “In Pursuit of Dignity” at the DBE Conference Centre in Pretoria, Gauteng. The book, launched in collaboration with the Awqaf SA Foundation, a Non-Governmental organisation (NGO), is a collection of stories that reflects on his professional, social and political life.
Deputy Minister Enver Surty will be signing copies of the book whose net proceeds will be donated as an endowment for the benefit of early childhood development of children with disabilities and the promotion of young black writers.
The Minister of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will deliver a keynote address at the launch which forms part of the World Book Day celebrations to recognise the scope of books which are seen as a link between the past and the future, a bridge between cultures and generations.
There is a series of book launches taking place in Rustenburg tonight hosted by the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg and will be followed by another launch in Johannesburg on Thursday to be addressed by Minister of Higher Education Dr Naledi Pandor. The last launch will be in Durban on Tuesday, 30 April 2019 with Minister of Transport Dr Blade Nzimande.
