The mid-year matric examinations continue following the 2019 election break, 10 May 2019

The mid-year examinations will continue this afternoon, as candidates sit to write Mathematics at 14:00.

More than 127 000 candidates will write Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy and Technical Mathematics in 6581 centres today. The Exams took a short break following the elections, as some schools were used as voting stations. The department created the break, by moving papers due to be written on 7 and 9 June to 13 and 14 June 2019, ensuring that voters were able to exercise their democratic right. It is however; back to business, as the National Senior Certificate and Senior Certificate exams gain momentum.

This first ever full mid-year Matric examination, with well over 350 000 registered candidates, commenced on 2 May 2019 and will conclude on 14 June 2019. The results of the examination will be released on 02 August 2019.

So far, there have been no reported irregularities or disruption. Thus, we commend the Provincial Education Departments (PEDs) for their preparation for the conduct, administration and management of the 2019 Mid-Year exam.

The department once again takes this time to extend best wishes to all candidates writing the Mid-Year Examination.
