Kha Ri Gude reading and library services roadshow makes way to Mthatha, 01 July 2015

Having started this leg of the roadshow on Tuesday 23 June 2015 in Witbank and moved on to Nongoma in KwaZulu-Natal and Giyani in Limpopo, the Kha Ri Gude reading and library services roadshow will, on Wednesday 01 July 2015 move onto Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

The Department of Basic Education will continue its drive to eradicate adult illiteracy and promote reading across the country as Minister Motshekga leads a campaign in getting the nation to read and placing unemployed youth at the centre of driving basic adult literacy and numeracy.

The Kha Ri Gude Programme is the Department’s response to the call of the Freedom Charter which declared that, “The Doors of Learning and Culture Shall be Opened!” The Charter specifically called for the eradication of adult illiteracy. It proclaimed boldly that, “Adult illiteracy shall be ended by a mass state education plan”.

Members of the media are invited to attend the road shows as follows:
