The MEC of Education Mr Mandala Makupula, will on Friday 04 July handover Mandlobe Senior Primary School in Nyandeni Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Mandlobe Senior Primary School is part of the 49 indentified schools under the ASIDI 1 programme 2011/2012 in the Eastern Cape province and for more than 30 years the school was operating as a mud school which has now been replaced with a state of the art school comprising of an office block, ablution facilities and a fully functional Grade R Centre.
The school is one of a total of 496 schools identified as a mud/inappropriate structures to be replaced as part of the ASIDI Natioanl Output plan that will in addition see the provision of water and sanitation to 1 257 schools and electricity to 878 schools, benefiting a total of 12 450 learners the bulk of whom are in the Eastern Cape.
The MEC will officially handover the school to the community, opening the doors of learning to the learners of Nyandeni.
