Department of Basic Education distances itself from hoax messages inviting Funza Lushaka applications, 11 January 2016

 

It has come to the attention of the Department of Basic Education (DBE) that a fake notice regarding applications for the Departments Funza Lushaka Program has been circulated on social media platforms. The hoax notice, which reads ‘’ Department of Education is looking for 4 761 Matriculants to be trained as Teachers. Application link>> http://goo.gl/nGTeY4 << This bursary will pay for: Registration fees, Tuition fees, meals and accommodation. Students will also be paid allowance for their practical work. Application closing date: 02 February 2016 Click here >> http://goo.gl/nGTeY4 << APPLY NOW IF YOU WANT TO BE A TEACHER’’ falsely invites interested candidates to apply for a Funza Lushaka Bursary by following a link.

 

The Department of Basic Education wishes to distance itself from this hoax chain message which has been circulated on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instant Message facility WhatsApp. Candidates and those wishing to apply for teaching bursaries through the program are urged to be vigilant for such hoax messages and application invitations. All official communication surrounding the Funza Lushaka Program and its bursary opportunities will be communicated directly by the Department of Basic Education through its official channels including the DBE and Funza Lushaka Website (www.funzalushaka.doe.gov.za).
