Basic Education Sector Lekgotla Set for 22 – 24 January, 21 January 2018

The Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga is set to host the third annual Basic Education Lekgotla under the theme ‘’Equipping Learners20th Knowledge and Skills For a Changing World’’.

The Lekgotla brings together key education stakeholders and experts in their respective fields to address some of the challenges facing the sector and plan for the year ahead. Under this years theme all commissions will include an emphasis on the fourth industrial revolution in ensuring our learners have the best possible chance at succeeding in a fast changing global environment.

As the sector moves into a new direction with the role-out of a three stream education system that will indeed equip learners to take full advantage of future opportunities, it will also develop measures to promote good governance in schools and ensure effective teacher development programmes.

All Provincial Education Departments, as well as teacher unions, school governing body organizations, learner organizations, NGO’s and academics among others will form part of the robust three day session.
