Basic Education Deputy Minister Surty joins National Imbizo Focus Week in Taung and Sekhing, North West, 11 July 2018

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education Mr Enver Surty will tomorrow, Thursday 12 July as well as Friday 13 July 2018 join a government delegation as part of the eighth National Imbizo Focus Week which has been underway since Monday 09 July 2018 under the theme “Together we move South Africa forward.” 

National Imbizo Focus Week is aimed at fostering better relations with communities and ensuring that government creates opportunities to engage with and appropriately address challenges that communities. Government will also use the Focus Week to address various issues amongst others, the issues of poverty, unemployment, inequality and most importantly the increased level of violence and brutality against women and children in our society. 

This year’s National Imbizo Focus Week takes place during the year in which we celebrate the centenary of two freedom fighters, Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela under the theme: “Be the legacy”, as well as Mama Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu under the theme: “A Woman of fortitude”.
