ASIDI brings 86 million reasons for renewed hope in Western Cape community, 28 August 2018
Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty will tomorrow, Wednesday, 29 August 2018, hand-over the R86 Million Scottsdene Secondary School outside Cape Town in the Western Cape through the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI),
Scottsdene Secondary is one of 25 ASIDI schools in the Western Cape which together with the provincial infrastructure programmes, form a critical component of SIP13 as well as the national school build programme of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission (PICC).
ASIDI will continue to work in support of the Departments SAFE Initiative in partnership with the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) and The Nelson Mandela Foundation. Unlike ASIDI, which focuses on schools that had no sanitation whatsoever, the SAFE initiative will focus on schools where sanitation has been found to be inadequate or unsafe.
With the hand-over of this Multi Million Rand School, both ASIDI and SAFE will continue to play a vital role in eradicating inappropriate and unsafe school infrastructure and in so doing, restoring dignity to rural education.
Members of the Media are invited to witness the hand-over as follows:
