Minister Angie Motshekga to hand over the newly built toilets as part of the Safe Initiative at Govani Primary School in Giyani, Limpopo, 01 November 2019

Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga will officially hand over the newly built toilets to Govani Primary School in Giyani, Limpopo Province on Saturday, 02 November 2019 as part of the SAFE initiative.

 

The Sanitation Appropriate for Education (SAFE) initiative was launched on 14 August 2018 by President Cyril Ramaphosa as a direct response school to sanitation challenges facing some of the country’s poorest schools. The Initiative is led by the Department of Basic Education in partnership with the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) and the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

 

The National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) is one of the partners who pledged their support and has been tasked with managing the implementation of the programme and to also manage the funds that are donated towards eradicating pit latrines.

 

Members of the media are invited to witness the handing of new toilets as part of the SAFE initiative as follows:
