Minister Siviwe Gwarube will be visiting the Limpopo Province on 16 September 2024, as part of her national Listening and Learning Tour. This provincial visit forms part of the Minister’s ongoing engagement with stakeholders to better understand the unique challenges faced by each province and explore opportunities for improving the quality of teaching and learning across the country.
Minister Gwarube will meet with Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, MEC for Education in Limpopo, Ms Lerule-Ramakhanya, and the Senior Management Team of the provincial Department of Education. During these meetings, the Minister will seek to gain insight into the specific issues confronting the province, including infrastructure development, teacher support, and learner outcomes. The visit is aimed at ensuring that any policy decisions made at the national level are informed by the realities experienced on the ground.
The Minister's visit will begin with a tour of Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (PEMPS), where she will interact with educators and learners. A media briefing will follow, during which the Minister will reflect on her engagements and share her observations with the public. Minister Gwarube is confident that this visit will not only expose her to the challenges faced by the Limpopo education system but will also present opportunities for the department to make informed, evidence-based policy decisions that address the province’s needs. Minister Gwarube will also visit Dendron High School; Helena Francis Special School; and Kushke Agricultural School.
The Minister’s national Listening and Learning Tour commenced in the Eastern Cape Province on 2 September 2024.
