Basic Education Minister takes School Governance to the heart of communities through roadshow, 20 February 2015

 

The Department of Basic Education will today, Friday 20 February 2015 continue the School Governing Body Election campaign with a roadshow at Thulamahashe Stadium in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

 

As key governance mechanisms within the schooling system, School Governing Bodies (SGBs) have a significant  role to play in establishing policies that relate to issues such as learner admission, language of instruction at the school, religious instruction, school fees and a code of conduct for learners.

 

In participating in the SGB Elections every parent has an opportunity to positively impact school governance in schools within their community, a chance as a parent or member of the community to make a tangible difference to schools and learner outcomes.

 

 

Members of the media are invited to join the Minister officially launch of the School Governing Body Election campaign as follows
