Purpose:
To provide the framework to co-ordinate and support further education and training in public and private FET colleges.

Functions:
1. Developing and maintaining a national curriculum framework for FET colleges.
2. Co-ordinating the development of programmes for the youth.
3. Managing the registration of private FET colleges.
4. Developing and maintaining a student support service framework at institutional and systemic level.
5. Promoting the use of recognition of prior learning (RPL) to bring youths and adults back into the formal learning system.
6. Rendering support to the establishment of a new instituitional landscape for FET colleges.
7. Rendering support to the development of institutional and provincial plans.
8. Ensuring the development and maintenance of a formula and procedures for programme-based funding in collaboration with the Directorate: Education Financial Planning.
