The Departments of Basic Education (DBE) and Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, is preparing to welcome the country’s top school choirs to the 2026 ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) National Championships, taking place from 30 June to 03 July 2026, at the Moreleta Kerk in Pretoria, Gauteng.
The National Championships represent the culmination of months of competition at district and provincial level, bringing together outstanding young performers from all nine provinces to celebrate excellence in music, culture, discipline and teamwork.
As one of South Africa’s longest running and most successful school enrichment programmes, the ABC Motsepe SASCE continues to play a vital role in developing young talent, promoting social cohesion and providing learners with opportunities to showcase their abilities on a national stage. The programme remains a powerful demonstration of the role that arts and culture can play in supporting holistic learner development and nation-building.
Provincial competitions are currently underway across the country, with finalists earning the opportunity to represent their provinces at the National Championships. Learners, educators, adjudicators and supporters can look forward to four days of exceptional performances that celebrate South Africa’s rich cultural and linguistic diversity.
The continued partnership between the DBE, DSAC and the Motsepe Foundation reflects a shared commitment to investing in youth development, arts education and platforms that inspire excellence among South Africa’s learners.
The 2026 ABC Motsepe SASCE National Championships promise to once again showcase the extraordinary talent, passion and creativity of young South Africans whilst reinforcing the value of arts and culture within the education system.
