With the marking process for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations currently underway, the DBE’s Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) Directorate has confirmed that all assessments for vocational or technical stream have been completed successfully for all practical assessment tasks and School-Based Assessments (SBAs). The practical assessments and SBAs that were completed are in the following subjects, Civil Technology Specialisations, Electrical Technology Specialisations, Mechanical Technology Specialisations, Engineering Graphics and Design, Technical Mathematics and Technical Sciences.
Mr Modiba Phosa, Chief Education Specialist for Technical Subjects, indicated that the DBE has identified and selected two schools in the PED with high enrolment and/or poor performance in the 2024 examination to verify the required PAT and SBA evidence. “As part of this process, Mpumalanga Province submitted nine schools selected for national moderation, specializing in Electrical Technology Specialisations and Civil Technology Specialisations from various education districts. In the North West province, nine schools were selected for national moderation, specializing in Electrical Technology Specialisations from several education districts. The Northern Cape province had eighteen schools selected for national moderation, focusing on Electrical Technology Specialisations and Mechanical Technology Specialisations in various education districts. In the Eastern Cape Province, thirty-five schools were selected for national moderation, focusing on Electrical Technology Specialisations, Mechanical Technology Specialisations, and Civil Technology Specialisations.
Five schools in the Free State, 22 schools in Gauteng, 36 schools in KwaZulu-Natal, and eight schools in Limpopo, specializing only in Electrical Technology Specialisations were selected for the Modernisation. Finally, in the Western Cape province, thirty-two schools were chosen for national moderation in the fields of Electrical Technology Specialisations, Mechanical Technology Specialisations and Civil Technology Specialisations from various education districts. The goal of national quality assurance is to maintain a consistent standard in the implementation of PATs and SBAs,” added Mr Phosa.
