Basic Education Minister, Ms Siviwe Gwarube and Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Leon Schreiber, are visiting Worcester in the Breede Valley Municipality today. The aim of the community engagement is to work across government departments to bring essential government services closer to communities, especially those in underserved areas. This is also part of an ongoing commitment towards improving service delivery and strengthening partnerships.
The programme focuses on enhancing access to critical government services, supporting vulnerable community members, and advancing the integration of technology in education to improve learner outcomes.
The engagement includes delivering smart IDs to the elderly in the Worcester community. At the Esselen Park Secondary School, qualifying matric learners who previously did not have South African identity documents will receive their IDs to access opportunities and public services. Smart tablets were donated to the school as part of Government’s drive to leverage technology to enhance teaching and learning by equipping learners with the necessary digital skills to navigate the digital world.
