For more than two decades, the National Teaching Awards (NTA) have recognised educators who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and commitment to quality education. While the awards celebrate outstanding achievements, the ceremony itself presents an opportunity to further showcase teachers as confident communicators, role models, and ambassadors of the profession.

The #TeacherTakeover campaign seeks to extend the impact of the NTA beyond a day by creating a nationwide digital experience that allows teachers and the public to participate actively in the celebration. The campaign aims to find a novice teacher (with less than two years of teaching experience) to join a seasoned broadcaster as co-presenter during the 2026 National Teaching Awards ceremony.

Teachers spend every day inspiring, motivating, and engaging learners. The same skills that make an exceptional educator, confidence, authenticity, storytelling, and communication, also make an outstanding presenter.

This campaign shifts teachers from being recognised only as award recipients to becoming the faces and voices of the National Teaching Awards.
