Are you a learner in one of South Africa’s public schools? Help the Minister of Basic Education, Ms Siviwe Gwarube, find and reward one of the thousands of phenomenal teachers who continuously demonstrate a unique blend of skills, heart and dedication to their job.

Participating is easy; all you must do is tell us–via a short essay and video–about a teacher who has made a lasting, positive impact on your life; someone who has gone above and beyond their duties! The teacher must have demonstrated perseverance, determination and resilience, care and support in responding to the setbacks or difficulties encountered by you or other learners. These can include challenges that may have potentially posed a threat to the learner’s education and academic progress.

Participation in the Minister’s Special Award is conducted via social and digital media platforms.
